Custom Job Purpose:
This position exists to perform responsible supervisory work in directing crews in various construction or maintenance activities in the school district.
Essential Functions of this Job Plans, schedules and supervises work of crews performing construction or maintenance work within the school district.
Supervises crews engaged in in-house construction activities.
May be assigned to function as an area maintenance foreman in directing work of crews in maintaining facilities and equipment.
Schedules work of crews.
Evaluates work performance of the helpers and craft workers.
Establishes discipline and resolves problems.
Instructs safety program and the use of tools and equipment.
Evaluates the employee's strengths and weaknesses and works with them to better utilize their talents.
Coordinates the work load to increase productivity and fulfill the needs of our facilities.
Interprets and lays out work.
Interprets blueprints or drawings.
Maintains time and material records.
Submits reports of crew activities and the maintenance or construction projects.
Orders material and assures an adequate flow of supplies to the worksite.
Coordinates work with other departments and schools.
Performs maintenance and construction duties in several craft areas.
Maintains an open line of communication with the area schools to better assess their needs.
Be available as the Public Relations Liaison between the schools, the public and the District Office, with a strong emphasis on safety and maintenance needs.
Must be able to perform physical tasks as set forth in the Physical Environment section of this document.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the methods, equipment and practices of construction and maintenance crafts.
Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools found in several building trades.
Considerable knowledge of the equipment and facilities of the school district.
Ability to supervise and instruct maintenance and construction personnel.
Ability to establish and maintain work schedules and procedures.
Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements Graduation from high school, completion of GED, or trade school.
Considerable commercial/industrial experience in several craft areas or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must have a valid driver's license appropriate to the vehicles assigned to the trade and be qualified to drive a School Board vehicle.
Work Context:
Strong organizational skills are needed to better utilize everyone's time and the Districts resources.
Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers.
Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines.
Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams.
Requires work with students, internal and external contacts, and with the public.
Physical Environment:
Requires working both indoors and outdoors.
Requires sitting and standing, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects frequently weighing up to 80 pounds.
May infrequently be required to lift more than 80 pounds with assistance as needed.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
