The Food Ministry Assistant handles a wide range of administrative support related tasks.
The Assistant must have the ability to interact with clients and staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Maintain the cleanliness of St Joseph and Holy Spirit Mission Markets.
Ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Mission Market.
Adhere to strict confidentiality of all agency information.
Agency follows all HIPAA guidelines.
Proactive and completes all assigned tasks on time and to the highest of standard.
Able to receive, move and deliver supplies/food/ on time; meets assigned schedule.
Have the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Be capable of working independently and set priorities and function as a member of a team.
Be capable of remaining calm when faced with conflicting demands and in all emergency situations.
Be able to establish effective working relationships Balance team and individual responsibilities, exhibit objectivity and openness to other views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit.
Be willing to accept and work within the agency philosophy.
Manifest professional and personal ethics.
Greet visitors and callers and resolve information requests.
Assist with the training and supervise volunteers assigned to the food pantry.
Type correspondence, compile data for expense and statistical reports.
Maintain an on-going assessment of all products (food and non-food).
Perform administrative support tasks including emails, data, scanning, reports.
Prepare timely and accurate information regarding pantry operations.
Facilitate daily food service cleaning and maintenance of pantry (including freezer/refrigeration).
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
RequirementsEducation and
Experience:
Requires a High School diploma, basic math and computer skills for correspondence and inventory control, with at least two years' work experience required.
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both verbally and written is highly recommended.
Demonstrate experience with Microsoft Office 365, including Word and Excel.
Operate standard office equipment including a multiple line telephone system, copy machine, fax, and scanner.
Safe food handling certified, must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not current.
This position requires a valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record as determined by the insurance carrier for the Diocese of Orlando.
A working knowledge of the procurement, storage, and packaging of food.
An understanding of nutrition and family needs regarding food.
Prior warehouse or food handling beneficial.
Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
